In November 2013, Dr Dominique Lee arrived at the Sydney apartment of her mentor, Professor John Kearsley, for dinner. He was head of radiation oncology at St George Hospital, and he had been guiding her as she prepared to become a specialist consultant. By the end of the night, her life and career would be derailed for the next decade. Dominique's case was the first in Australian history in which a doctor was sent to jail for sexually assaulting another doctor. In 2026, she remains the only junior doctor to win a criminal case against a senior doctor for sexual assault. In this episode, she tells Gemma about the night that changed everything and the long fight for justice that followed.
