The station was born originally named Vega 95.3 and it targeted the baby boomer market of listeners in the 40 to 60 age bracket and played a mix of talk and music from the 1960s to the 2000s. In 2010 it was rebranded under the name Classic Rock, after failing to gain significative audience. In 2012 it was relaunched as Smooth 95.3. The station's format is focused on providing 'more music and less talk' featuring eclectic easy-listening playlist, usually playing ballads.
